Economic Growth

Posted: May 14, 2009, 1:45 PM
Scott Wagman has experience getting things done running his family’s business, growing it from four employees to 140. From $400,000 to $19 million in revenue. In these tough economic times, we need a strong leader for change in this city to find innovative ways to bring people together to generate economic growth. He also understands that our economic development efforts will be assisted by reducing our crime rate

As we cut our crime rate, we will be able to increase our economic growth. As someone who has dramatically grown a business in this region, Scott Wagman will work with existing businesses, small and large, to help them stop layoffs or to expand. He will work to attract new companies with new jobs to our region and will encourage entrepreneurship.

Daphne is right!Jobs in the expanding Green Economy in the sectors of Solar manufacturing and installation, energy efficiency, recycling and reuse ofthe abundant resources we now so carelessly throw away --when there is no "away" on our planet. We need to have "all hands on deck" for theperilous journey into the future.I am convinced that Scott Wagman is the person we need in the Captains Chair in St Petersburg .

Above all, St. Pete needs decent, diversified jobs that offer a future to its employees; it needs more than call centers. And it needs these jobs without joining the national race to the bottom in wages, benefits, and working conditions. I know that's a tall order, but I believe Mr. Wagman is intelligent enough to recognize the St. Pete's problems and begin a genuine search for realizable solutions.
